Validators
Validators secure Hyperliquid by participating in HyperBFT consensus. The network uses delegated proof of stake with HYPE Token.
Active Set
- Size: Top 24 validators by total delegated stake
- Selection: Permissionless — anyone can run a node and accumulate stake
- Code: https://github.com/hyperliquid-dex/node
Requirements
- Self-delegation minimum: 10,000 HYPE (locked 1 year)
- Below minimum → undelegate-only mode (no new delegations)
- Commission increases capped at ≤1%
Responsibilities
- Produce blocks proportional to stake
- Publish oracle prices every 3 seconds
- Sign deposit and withdrawal transactions on the bridge
- Maintain adequate latency and responsiveness
Discipline
- Validators can vote to jail peers with poor performance
- Quorum of jail votes → jailed (no block production, no rewards)
- Can unjail after fixing issues (rate-limited)
- Slashing for provably malicious conduct (e.g., double-signing)
Delegation Program (Hyper Foundation)
The Foundation delegates tokens to reliable validators to enhance network security.
Eligibility:
- 10,000 HYPE in one address (locked 1 year)
- Maintain ≥2 non-validator nodes with 95% uptime (static IPs)
- Complete KYC/KYB
- Not from restricted jurisdictions (US, Ontario, Cuba, Iran, Myanmar, North Korea, Syria, certain Russian-occupied Ukraine regions)
Foundation may cease delegation at any time.
